‘Fatman’

Title page –

On the front page of my comic is our hero ‘Fatman’.  He is sat at a desk, facing away from us, with a stretched lycra suit hanging of the back of it. The letters ‘F’ and ‘M’ have been crudely stitched on to the front of it. Judging by the look of ‘Fatman’ he is indeed rather obese. His room is full of litter, and faded and peeling posters fill the walls. The curtains are half drawn but we can clearly see it is daylight. It looks like he has only just removed himself from his unmade bed. He is a slob. He is also topless, with just a pair of shorts covering his modesty. A large tub of Vaseline sits just to the left of him, with the lid open.

The Title reads

‘Fat Man, the one the people can trust (to f**k it all up)’

Quick story outline;

Our hero, Fat man,  is sitting in his bedroom, still living with his mother at 35 he is a bit of a loser, but, none the less, a superhero. A term we will learn to use rather loosely in this comic. As he sits…’occupying’ himself, a distant cry is heard from outside. Que ‘Fat man’ jumping, well, waddling in to action.

Page one.

Title –

‘Fat Man, the one the people can trust (to fuck it all up)’

Panel one –

Fat Man is alone in his room, he is in front of a computer. The sun is high I the sky. The room is covered in litter, and has many peeled and faded posters on the wall. The shot is from behind him, as he looks into the screen.  He is horrifically obese. Sadly, he is also topless and, although we cannot see below his stomach, our imaginations are lead to believe he is actually quite busy due to the symbolic angle of his right arm. He has what looks like a comb over (tragic at 35) and thick glasses. We are also greeted by a hairy arse crack. Simply to add insult to injury.

Text box from narrator – ‘Aha! Here is our hero, busy as usual!’

Panel two –

This panel is visually exactly the same as panel one however, our heros ears has pricked up at the sound of someone on in need.

Voice box – (from out of shot) ‘Help me someone, please help!’

Voice box- (Fat Man) ‘Oh for goodness sake, cant a super hero get a night in?’

Panel three –

Again, the same shot, however, now standing up, his right arm is outstretched and he is dropping a crumbled up white tissue in a bin.

Voice box – (From out of shot) ‘Aiden! There’s someone calling!’

Voice box –(Fat Man) ‘Yes mother, I’m going’

Panel four –

Fat man is now standing, looking into his wardrobe, he has pulled out a (very tight looking) lycra suit. The emblem ‘FT’ is sewn very crudely over the top of what looks like a Halloween Super Man costume.

Panel five –

In this shot we are greeted by the site of Fat Man, facing us,  working his way into his suit, with the aid of Vaseline, which he has in a bit tub on the side ( desk). It is smeared all over his legs and stomach. His left hand is occupied with a hand full of the greasy substance, while his right hand is trying to pull the suit up his right leg. His left leg, shockingly, is already in.

Voice box – (Fat man) ‘Why didn’t they make a XXXXL, time for the Vaseline!’

Page two

Panel one –

Panel one is a large panel that stretched down 60% of the left hand side of the page.

It shows Fat Man in all his glory, arm outstretched in a Superman style, he looks spectacular, brilliant, a real super hero…

Panels two, three and four –

Panels two, three and four are all linked,. They stretch the same length as panel one, and take up the remainder of the top half of the page.

Panel two –

This panel shows Fatman’s bedroom window on the second floor, where he evidently has jumped out, however, where an amazing flying obese, lycra clad man should be, there are simply three vertical lines, show he has in fact, descended rather quickly.

voice  box-  (Fatman, from out of shot) ‘Oops!’

Panel three –

This panel shows Fat man falling, fully suited, however, there is not an ounce of worry in his face, in fact he is grinning from ear to ear.

voice box – (Fatman) ‘don’t fear readers!’

Panel four –

This panel  shows a old mangy mattress on the floor, which evidently Fat man intends to break his fall. This is obviously, the reader sees, how he always exits his residence when in costume.

Voice box- (Fatman, from out of shot ) ‘I am well and truly prepared!’

Text box in bottom right corner from editor

‘Looks like this is the closest we will ever get to seeing 30 stone flying then!’

Panel five –

Panel five takes up the remainder of the bottom of the page. It is a wide shot. In the shot, we can see the route taken by Fat man on falling, we see lines showing where he fell, we see them change direction as her has hit the mattress and he has flown forward on to a strategically parked moped. We catch up with the action just moments after he has landed on the poor motorbike which has parts hanging of, a tatty seat, broken windscreen and headlight. It’s not in a good way in the slightest!

Page three –

Panel one –

Panel one on this page is a thin panel that stretches across the whole page, it shows Fatman on his crumbling moped, followed by billowing smoke, driving across, from right to left, the page. In the background we are presented with what looks like a rough part of town.

Panel two –

Panel two is identical to panel one, except Fatman is now driving from left to right. It seems our hero is lost! He has an angry look on his face.

Voice box – (Fatman) ‘Bollocks!’

Text box from narrator – ‘Oh dear folks, seems our hero is lost!’

Panel three –

Is again the same as panel one, Fat man is driving back in the ‘correct direction, (Right to left) .

Voice box –( Fatman) ‘I’m gonna have to sew myself a map pouch!’

Panel four –

A close up Fat mans determined face. We can really only see his eyes, and in the Background, which is covered In smoke from his worn out moped, we still see the rough looking steets etc.

Voice box – (Fatman) ‘how did I get to this point? Riding around on a trusty steed, loved by one and all, with my own suit…’

Text box from narrator – ‘ yes readers, it’s time for that obligatory first comic flash back “How did he get to here” moment…enjoy!’

Page four –

Panel one –

A young Fat man, is sat in the same chair, in the same position as in the first page, he is wearing similar clothes too.  He is around 5 years old and is playing a game on his computer. The room has not changed in the slightest, however many of the posters look at lot newer and not quite so worn and tatty.

Panel two –

The young Fat man is in the same position but a cry is heard from outside the window .

Voice box- (from out of view from Fatman’s Father) ‘evening son, it’s been a busy night being a hero!’

Panel three –

The young Fat man is stood by the window, looking out. Our point of view is from behind his left shoulder.  We can see a well built superhero, in the classic fist out pose, flying at speed towards us. It’s the young Fat mans Father. The young Fat man, however, cries out to him.

Voice box – (from the young Fat man) –Dad, watch out, the window!!!

Page Five –

Panel one –

From the outside of the house we can see the hero falling down directly underneath the window. Lines are drawn to show his direction of travel, which shows him hitting the window and falling. The panel is very large, taking up 2/3 of the left of the page.

Text Box from narrator – ‘Yes readers, its seems that although Fat mans Father is somewhat of a hero, what he gained in flight, he lost in wit! The windows closed!!!’

Voice box – (from Fat mans Father) – ‘bugger, ill never fly again!’

Voice box – (from a young Fat man) – ‘dad, noo!’

Panel two –

We are looking up at the house, with Fat mans Fathers bent and twisted body to the right of the shot. The young Fat man is looking out of the window, down at his Father. The banged out moped he uses is parked in the back ground, looking shiny, to give an idea of time for the reader.

Voice box – (from the young Fat man) ’Don’t worry dad, I’ll keep your legacy alive!’

Panel three –

Text box from narrator – ‘so readers, that’s how it happened, pretty boring to be fair. And the poor lad still has no hero powers! It seems only the stupid gene was in the family!! Now, back to the ‘action’’

Page six –

Panel one –

a large panel, of a behind the shoulder shot of Fat man on his scooter. He is going down a different road this time, obviously with a destination in mind. We can see a small wisp of smoke in the distance.

Voice box – (Fat Man) ‘Aha, I know where the damsel is! Look, smoke on the horizon!’

Panel two –

In this panel we can see Fat man pulled up in front of a smoking house. A cry of help is heard from amongst the smoke. A window on the 1st floor is open.

Voice box – (Fat man) ‘there’s someone in there!’

Panel three –

The shadow of a figure can be seen in the open window, no details are visible, smoke billows out past her (we know she is female from her voice). She is calling for help

Voice box – (woman in distress) ‘Help Fat man, help me!’

Panel four –

Fat man has started to scale the side of the house, clinging on desperately to the drain pipe, which is crumbling away from the wall, he is puffing and panting, but yelling out reassurance to the woman in distress. The moped lays on its side below him.

Voice box – (Fat man) ‘Never fear, I’m on my way! God knows what I’ll do when I get up there though!’

Page seven –

Panel one –

here we can see Fat man clinging on to the ledge of the window, there is sweat pouring from his brow, however, now we can see part of the woman in distress’s arm, and she seems to be plastic! She is in fact a blow up doll!

Voice box – (Fat man) ‘phew! Nearly there, are you ok?…i said are you ok!?’

Panel two –

Fatman is staring up in amazement as he sees a plastic blow up doll with bright red lips staring back at him.

Voice box – (Fat man) ‘what the…’

Panel three –

In this shot a man has appeared, he is smoking a very large cigar, which seems to be the cause of all the smoke, he is very short, and has a evil smirk across his face. He is holding the blow up doll to the window. It’s a trap!

Voice box – (Fat man) ‘Vertically challenged man? This is a set up!’

Panel four –

Here we see a close up of vertically challenged mans cigar, seemingly blowing up the blow up doll, the shot is engulf with a ‘BANG’

Panel five –

This is another shot of vertically challenged man, peering over the window ledge, Fat man, is out of shot. We can see the top half of his head. His cigar is out of shot but a wisp of smoke travels upwards.

Voice box – (vertically challenged man) ‘yes it is I, ‘sigh’ I was hoping to attract a real super hero, not you ‘Fat man’ ‘

Page eight –

Panel one –

Fat man has managed to pull himself through the window and has fallen on a heap on the floor, in front of Vertically challenged man. the house, from the inside its quite plain, a wooded floor and white walls.

Voice box – (vertically challenged man) ‘Oh for goodness sake!’

Panel two –

Fat man is standing in front of Fat man, point at him in an angry accusing manor.

Voice box – (Fat man) ‘I’ve heard about you! You want to rid the world of super heros, so your no longer deemed as the shortest hero!’

Panel three –

A close up of vertically challenged man’s face, he looks unhappy.

Voice box – (vertically challenged man) ‘pah, yes it’s true, but you don’t know what it’s like!’

Text box from Narrator – ‘O dear, sorry readers, yet again we are about to have another flashback…i just…can’t … resist!’

Panel four –

This panel is similar to panel three, but a tear is trickling down Vertically challenged man’s face.

Voice box – (vertically challenged man) ‘ its hard, being short…’

Page nine-

Panel one –

A young vertically challenged man is running along seemingly on his was to an emergency. He is running on grass, with a countryside background. He is now even shorter. Cries can be heard out of shot, cries for help. He wears a clean looking cape, with no logo on it, he obviously does not go by the name of Vertically challenged man himself.

Voice box –( from out of shot)  ‘help me, someone please!’

Panel two –

The young vertically challenged man has arrived at the scene of the incident. It seems a cat is stuck in a tree; there is a woman underneath pointing up in tears. Vertically challenged man is looking annoyed; once again, a rescue has been foiled by his height.

Voice box – (woman in distress) ‘Oh for pete’s sake, not you, what can you do?

Voice box – (young Vertically challenged man)  ‘damn it!’

Voice box – (cat) –‘Meow!’

Panel three –

Another super hero appears, he is extremely tall, and also wears a cape, in brighter better colours to Vertically challenged man. He too is unbranded.

Voice box – (the tall super hero) – ‘don’t worry I’m here I’m here!’

Panel four –

The tall hero can be seen plucking the cat out of the tree, bringing it back to the safety of the ground. The woman looks on, gushing at the hero

Voice box- (the tall super hero) ‘there you go young lady, your kitten!’

Panel five –

Vertically challenged man is skulking away, head lowered, looking sorry for himself, we are facing him, and, over his right shoulder, we can see the tall super hero gesturing to him, behind the tall super hero we can see the woman with her cat walking away.

Voice box – (the tall super hero) ‘just pack it in you midget, you’re no hero! The only thing you can save is money…on clothing! Pa hahaha!’

Page ten –

Voice box – (Vertically challenged man) – so you see…it’s never been easy, the only way I can be the best is to literally, lower the tone, and kill you lot off!’

Panel two –

This is a face shot of Fat man, who looks surprised.

Voice box – (Fat man) – ‘so that’s what happened to lanky man!’

Voice box – (Vertically challenged man, out of shot) –‘yes…I cut him down to size in that ally!’

Panel three –

Fat man and Vertically challenged man are facing each other, Fat man is shrugging his shoulders in a questioning manor, and Vertically challenged man look undecided on what to do next.

Voice box – (Fat man) ‘you see? He documents everything!’

Panel three –

Panel three shows Fat mans out stretch finger pointing towards a skinny runty looking man, scribbling hard on a note pad, this is of course, the author, narrator and artist of the comic. He has sweat pouring from his brow, but is engrossed in his work.

Voice box – (Fat man) ‘He writes everything I do and say, only important heroes have them… and the ones with rich parents, he’s a cheap one though.’

Voice box – (author, artist skinny man, under his breath) – ‘my own comic…documents everything’

Panel four –

Panel four shows the point of view from the author, he is looking down at a rough layout and drawings of page eleven, the page we are currently on. Just above the page, in the back ground, we can see Fat man and Vertically challenged man. They are speaking and pointing at the author.

Voice box – (vertically challenged man) ‘’I’m going to take him from you!’

Voice box – (Fat Man) ‘like hell you are!’

Text box from narrator – ‘O crap…well, tell my family I love them…

Here Fat man is walking up the stairs to his bedroom, he looks tired, the author is following closely behind, scribbling on his notepad. His mother shouts from out of the shot.

Voice box – (mother) ‘did you save her then Aiden?’

Voice box – (Fat man) ‘yes mom, sumit like that’

Panel three –

We are now in Fat mans room, he has started to pull of the tight clothes, he is struggling with a sleeve.

Panel four –

Fat man is looking angrily at us, as we are in the point of view of the author.

Voice box – (Fat man) – ‘I know I paid you for the day, but get out now, I don’t want you scripting me getting undressed!’

Panel five –

The door has just been slammed in our face, on the door is a wonky sign held up by a piece of string that says ‘THE END!’
